This is really lovely. You have managed to say what I feel most days. Well, except for that horse-loving thing.

We went to that. Yes, we got to meet people in all stages, all places around adoption and fostering.

I guess it was intense, but it didn't feel stressful or overwhelming.

It felt like a wonderful opportunity. It really opened our eyes, minds and hearts and we ended in a very different place than we began.

It wasn't so much about "the bad stuff" but more about point of entry into parenting, KWIM?

It sounds like she had a really different experience, which I understand.

But that changed us forever and I'm always going to be glad we went.

Open Door Society was an amazing resource.

As for the rest...very well said. Yes, parenting. Deceptively simple word. :)

And you captured that "growing up" feeling so well.

This is a brilliant post. You managed to sum up exactly how I feel, well, strive to feel. Being aware, but not forgetting to be in the moment. Melt-down moments, or giggle fit moments - I just try to be there, for they do go by so quick.

Thanks, and BTW - congrats on your award!
